Chief Scientist Officer

• The CSO will be part of the Executive Leadership team and will lead a team of 40 robotics and AI scientists and engineers.
• Main mission is to be responsible for leading the R&D strategy, vision, and day-to-day leadership of the R&D team. The executive is expected to maintain and develop a leading a world-class high performing R&D team

The CSO will be responsible for:

• developing and establishing scientific direction, strategy and implementation for the R-Lab’s strategic research programme on Robotics and Artificial Intelligence;
• leading scientific research and coordinating projects conducted with partnering institutions that advance research in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence and result in useful and reportable outcomes;
• set priorities for executing on a world-class scientific research program.
• Lead researchers’ recruitment drive.
• ensuring projects are designed to create tangible, mission-oriented outcomes aligned with R-Lab’s strategic Action Plan;
• coordinating and working with principal investigators to advance research projects;
• leading multi-disciplinary (i.e., basic, translational, and applied) research;
• leading and serving as a liaison to assigned Working Committees/Action Teams;
• establishing and coordinating a Science Advisory Committee;
• administering measurement standards and coordinating research peer reviews;
• furthering positive collaboration within the R-Lab and across other partner institutions.

• Has a relevant PhD from one of the top 500 universities.
• Has 10  years or more of post-doc experience.
• Has a track record of scientific publishing and/or patenting.
• A proven track record of success designing and managing a world-class R&D programmes.
• The successful candidate is currently be leading a well-regarded, R&D function for a major R&D institution.
• S/he has experience managing large scale, well-coordinated research efforts is preferred.
• The CSO is an accomplished scientist with a record of outstanding scholarship in Robotics and AI.
• The CSO will have the vision and relationship-building skills necessary to expand key collaborations with other centres of excellence locally and internationally.
• Direct budget management for scientific research programs and allocation of resources.
• Oversee the overall operation and integration of scientific cores.
