Life at Dubai Future Foundation
Launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Dubai Future Foundation was established back in 2016 to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Dubai, as well as to collectively imagine, inspire, and design Dubai’s future in collaboration with the government and private entities within various sectors.
Mandated in positioning Dubai as a hub for innovation and a leading city of the future, the foundation’s strategic business units are comprised of Imagining and Understanding the Future, Disseminating Future Knowledge, Capacity Building, Designing and Accelerating the Future and finally Seeing and experiencing the Future.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai once said, “The future is not built on possibilities and numbers but on clarity of vision, planning, action and implementation”. With that in mind, this outlined a far-sighted approach for the foundation that placed future readiness at the very core of its operations.
Where does this role fit into the bigger picture?
The Business Development Manager reports directly to the Dubai Future Labs Director and is part of the Research & Development department within the Dubai Future Labs structure.
The Dubai Future Labs is focused on driving innovative ideas through rigorous scientific testing to push the existing boundaries of research applications. The R&D department is an open-innovation research concept integrating concurrent research with innovative processes with both private and public partnerships. The department is focused on co-creation, experimentation, evaluation of innovative ideas and technology in real-life test cases as well as applied research in the fields of robotics.
Dubai Future Labs – Business Development Manager
As the Dubai Future Lab’s Business Development Manager within the Dubai Future Lab’s R&D department you will be ambitious and energetic to spearhead the lab’s business development activities.
You will identify potential business use cases of internal development and help us expand our clientele. You will be at the front of the company and will have the dedication to create and apply an effective sales strategy. Your main goal is to drive sustainable financial growth through boosting sales and forging strong relationships with clients.
- You will research and identify new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products, and services - or new ways of reaching existing markets,
- You will generate leads and approach prospective clients through meeting with customers/clients face to face or over the phone,
- You will foster and develop relationships with customers/clients and understand their needs to be able to respond effectively,
- You will provide strategic business development presentations to stakeholders for the effective growth of the labs,
- You will manage client-business relationships for both private and public clients.
- You will provide business case studies to stakeholders,
- You will draw up client contracts in collaboration with relevant departments,
- You will advise on improving efficiency in the profitability of the company,
- You will train members of your team and arrange external training where appropriate,
- You will discuss promotional strategy and activities with the marketing department,
- You will liaise with the finance team, marketing team, and product team as appropriate,
- You will stay up to date and informed with trends and changes in the business world to steer the growing company in the right direction as seems appropriate,
- You will help to plan sales campaign,
- You will be responsible for creating a sales pipeline,
- You will negotiate pricing with customers, and suppliers in some cases,
- You will aim to increase business sales,
- You will carry out sales forecasts and analysis and present your findings to senior management/the board of directors,
- You will develop the business sales and marketing strategy,
